Studies and initiatives
At the Cedar Rapids/Linn County Solid Waste Agency, we hope that by sharing our sustainability initiatives, studies and activities, we can spark discussion about recycling, resource recovery, and sustainability; encouraging others to embrace those concepts in their own lives and work. We appreciate your suggestions and questions.
2010 Waste Chracterization Study -- Conducted in October 2010, this study determined the type of materials being discarded and landfilled in Linn County. The resulting data assists the Agency Board of Directors and staff in planning recycling programs and waste diversion strategies. The 2010 study was a follow-up to waste sorts conducted in 1996, 1999 and 2005.
Wood Harvest Study -- The goal of the project was to capture wood from three Cedar Rapids flood houses in a way that competed in time and money with demolition.

2011 - 2017 Regional Comprehensive Integrated Solid Waste Management Plan -- Compiled by the East Central Iowa Council of Governments (ECICOG), this plan includes Agency goals as well as recycling and waste management plans in counties around Linn County.
