Goals for the Future:
Cedar Rapids/Linn County Solid Waste Agency staff and its Board of Directors continually investigate and evaluate new technologies which might enable the agency to enhance this waste management system and meet its goals more effectively and efficiently.

Cedar Rapids/Linn County Solid Waste Agency adheres to an "integrated solid waste management" approach to managing and reducing the garbage generated in Linn County. This means that the agency utilizes various methods to manage the many types of waste generated by Linn County citizens and businesses, with the goal of reducing the amount of waste being landfilled.
Every day, the Agency utilizes the following components of an integrated approach to ensure that our solid waste is disposed of cost-effectively, safely and in an environmentally sound manner:
- waste reduction
- recycling
- composting
- household hazardous materials diversion
- landfilling
