Prescription drug disposal

Due to laws and regulations, the Cedar Rapids/Linn County Solid Waste Agency cannot accept phamaceuticals for recycling or reuse.  

To dispose of old medications, seal them in plastic bags and place in your garbage. Do not flush medication into sanitary sewer systems or septic tanks. 

Some pharmacies will accept unused medications. Contact you local pharmacy about their acceptance programs.
