Why Recycle Appliances?

It's important to properly dispose of your old appliances because they contain materials that are hazardous to the environment and human health. Recycling your appliance:

  • Keeps harmful chemicals such as CFCs, HCFCs, HFCs and mercury out of the landfill and environment
  • Recovers reusable materials such as metal,  plastic, glass and oil

Some energy companies will offer rebates if you buy energy-efficient models or pay you to dispose of an energy-wasting appliance. Check with your local utility company.

If the appliance is still functional, consider donating it to a local organization or resale shop.
